Help needed regarding Fulbright Scholarship
I am Shahzaib and I am a student at NU – FAST where I am placed on deans list with GPA of 3.75+.
I will graduate in May09. I am applying for Fulbright Masters Scholarship program Can I apply? Kindly tell me what are my chances of getting it and what likely universities would I get in, I am applying for electrical engineering and computer science.
Also what universities should I mention on my application. I expect to get atleast 750 in Q, 570 in V and 4 in writing in GRE, (I have taken SAT i know what i am talking about) hopefully i would do much better. Can I get into likes of UTexas Austin, Maryland, georgiatech etc. Plus from where can i get the sample letters and essays.

Yes you can apply for Fulbright Scholarship and you will be considered. However USEFP (www.usefpakistan.org) prefer students who are already graduated over to those who are in their final year.
You have an impressive profile and have a pretty good chance to get into the top 15 universities. So you can mention UT Austin, Georgia Tech etc in your application. I would advise you also to mention 1-2 safe bet universities apart from your dream universities. In your case you might want to apply for 1-2 universities that are at rank 25 or below. Such as Ohio State University, UT Arlington, University of Central Florida etc.
Regarding sample letters and essays, you might want to ask a couple of your seniors to share some with you. We will soon be updating pkstudent.com website to write tips on how to write statement of purpose so keep checking the educational resources section of the website.

Shahzaib you seem to have a really good academic standing like Mariam said. There is a good chance that you will get the Fulbright but you must start preparing now!
There are many variables involved in getting the Fulbright scholarship, of course a satisfactory academic record being one of the most important ones.
First of all you must do a good senior year project. A project such that it matches your current abilities and future plans and helps Pakistan in some positive way.
Secondly your personal statement for the scholarship should be something that stands out from the rest. I advise that you start now and work with your professors, somehow merging your life long plans, abilities, your current and future projects and Pakistan’s prosperity!
Think really seriously how you are going to benefit Pakistan and through your projects show that you have the ability to do so. This is one of the most important things that matter in getting the Fulbright.
