Looking for a University that offers Masters in Project & Construction Management
I have completed my 4 years Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from NED university of Engg. & Tech., Karachi, Pakistan in 2004. I have more than 4 years of Project & Construction Management experience.
I am currently working at Pak. Real Estate Investment & Management Company as Manager (Projects). Now, I feel that it is the necessity of time to do Masters in Project & Construction Management to enhance my knowledge and skills and for better implementation in our Projects in Pakistan.
Could you advise me from where i should do Masters in the above mentioned fields ? and what is the funding / scholarship opportunities for me in that Country.
Looking forward to your swift response.

Hi,
I will be assuming that you are talking of USA when you mention “that Country”. I hope thats correct.
If you are planning to do a Masters from US, then most of the universities require you to have taken the GRE exam. The top universities for “Project and Construction Management” are
California Institute of Technology
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Stanford University
University of California-Berkeley
The University of Texas at Austin
Northwestern University
Cornell University
Princeton University
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Carnegie Mellon University
University of Washington-Seattle Campus
University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Syracuse University
University of Wisconsin-Madison
SUNY at Buffalo
Purdue University
A lot of these universities are very stringent about scholarships and funding but some are slightly relaxed.
In particular “Syracuse University”, “Purdue University”, “The University of Texas at Austin” and “University of Wisconsin-Madison” have a better record of granting funding.
Please keep in mind that in 90 percent of the cases, even these universities do not give scholarships right away unless you have an outstanding GRE score and a stellar academic background. Mostly students arrange enough money for the first semester and once they are in the university , they look for TA/RA positions to help with the funding. Sometimes it may take even two semesters to find suitable funding.
There are a few things that you should do :
1.) Get a GRE preparation book and take a practice test to see where you stand and how much work do you need to improve that.
2.) Review your financial background. Do you have enough money to afford one or two semesters on your own?
3.) You can look at the Fulbright scholarship option as well. You may want to apply for that.
Links for Fulbright and GRE can be found on this website too. Also I encourage you to read other peoples posts on the website.
Please do respond if you have any specific questions.
