Hi,
My name is Anas and I am studying accounting, economics and mathematics for my A’Levels at The Lyceum. I will be giving my AS exam this june of maths and economics. I got 7 A’s and 2 B’s in my O’Levels.
I basically have two questions:
- Can a person who has a degree in accounting from the US work in Pakistan? What about UK and Canada?
- Furthermore, will only 3 subjects suffice to get me an admission or will i need a fourth one? If yes, which one would you recommend?
- What course of study should opt for if I want to become a Chartered Accountant?
p.s i am giving all four components of maths in the first year. Normally, only two components are given in he first year and other two in the final year.

A degree in accounting would be just like any other bachelors degree and it wouldn’t be worth a lot unless you’ve got a CA or a CPA/ACCA certification.
In the US, you’ve got the CPA certification which is somewhat equivalent to CA in Pakistan. But unfortunately, that isn’t recognized in Pakistan so if you plan to move back to Pakistan, you’ll still have to sit for the CA exams. I’m not sure how many exemptions you get if you have the CPA certification (You might have to ask the CA board in Pakistan)
However, you can become a CA if you attend school in Canada. McGill has a great CA school. With the credit for the A’Levels courses that you’ve taken, you can get your Bachelors in Accounting in about 3 years. After that, it’ll be another 3 years along with an article ship to become a Chartered Accountant. (Although, I’ve heard it’s really hard to get a job in Montreal unless you speak French .. so that’s something to keep in mind)
You CAN get admitted into a US or UK college with only 3 A Level subjects. In your case, since you’re aiming for a degree in accounting, you should be able to get college level credit for your A Levels subject. But then, that varies from college to college and you can’t really be sure unless you ask them specifically.

ok m doing o level!and have taken bussines subjects ie accounts,economics,computer std!the thing is i dont know wht i’l b doing after a level,i mean i wanna become a chartered accountant,so what should i do after a level???ppl r saying i can do only BBA,but i dont like BBA,i think its gona be waste of my time,when i just wanna do the course reqired for CA!!!WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY A LEVEL,ANY ADVICE???!!!!
