I certainly find myself in a similar situation, as the one ‘Concerned Student’ is in. I have a GPA of 3.54 & have a degree of BSc Textile Engineering. I am halfway through my first year at Dewan Mushtaq Group, as a Quality Assurance Manager.

Younas bhai, is there a possibility where I can leave the big guns (Oxford, UCL, Cambridge etc.) out, and go for a lets say, lesser university?? In that case which universities have their fees on the lesser side and offer competetive edge to its students at the same time?

My criteria for scholarship is also not as rigid. A half tuition fee or something like that would do. Understanding my situation what advice can you give to me….

Cambridge requires 3 years of work experience and LBS require 5 years of work experience. Oxford on the other hand doesn’t require any work experience for the MBA program and consider fresh graduate like yours. Warwick also require 3 years of work experience.

I don’t see a problem you getting admission in MBA program (provided you have a great GMAT score to compensate your GPA and less work experience) in a decent university (if not top ranked due to your less work experience). The problem I see for you is the funding as there is hardly any scholarship given by the universities themselves. Also MBA fees in most universities is around 20,000 Pounds. Most of the students take loans which they are able to pay off right after their MBA by getting high salary jobs.

There are couple of things that you can do
(1) Get a loan to fund your studies. You might then would like to stay in UK so that you can get a 35k pounds per year job and pay off your loan
(2) Delay your MBA plans by getting a good work experience and also save some money for it. This will also help you with your chances of getting into a better university
(3) If you are very interested in Mgmt degree than why MBA? You can also do something MSc Management which is less expensive (around 12k-13k pounds) fees and are less competitive. Like in any other MS program, getting a scholarship would be competitive. Also there are very few scholarships by HEC for people interested in Management degree.
