AOA,
Well I want to share my experience with u guys. I graduated in BSc Electrical engineering from the USA in 2005. My concentration is in telecom
I was very interested in coming back to Pakistan. Unfortunately I have not been able to get any job in telecom area in Lahore. So I’ve basically haven’t done anything since 2005.
I was so much disappointed in coming back to Pakistan but could not go back due to finance problem. Then I started doing MBA from GC University in 2007.
I am still not sure what to do … Being a US graduate I am free and could not get job …
Thanks
Imran

Imran,
I’m quite surprised to hear about your situation. In the last few years I’ve heard about a lot of growth within the telecom industry in Pakistan with the emergence of warrid, telenor etc.
I don’t think heading back to the US is the solution to your problem. There’s a pretty big market in Pakistan, Middle East and even UK that you can target in your job search. I would strongly recommend you to re-evaluate your job search strategy and maybe even get professional help for your resume/cover letter. You have to realize that an MBA without any related work experience might not get you too far ahead in the game.
I beleive that there’s still a lot of job opportunites available in Pakistan and the surrounding regions. So keep on trying.

Arfeen
Thanks Arfeen
How did u get job in the US?? Do u have H1B or green card?
Its very hard these days coz they do not sponsor H1
Can I get job in the US while sitting here in pakistan?
Imran,
I agree that getting H1B visa these days is hard. Especially if you’re sitting in Pakistan. So thats really not an option for you.
You can always try looking for jobs in UK and/or Middle East if you can’t find opportunities in Pakistan. But you really need to start with some entry level job to get your career going. Even if it doesnt pay that much initially. Job hopping is normal these days .. and even recommended, so you can always get a better job after you get some initial experience.
Thanks
But how can I get job in the UK and middle east…
I am ready to go to the UK….
But is it possible to get job there while sitting here??
Yeah you can …
http://monster.co.uk/ for UK jobs
and http://bayt.com for UAE
As you probably know, job hunting is not easy. You have to be dedicated and allocate a good chunk of your time to it.
Good luck.
Try to visit the Sub Contractor Companies which are working under Vendors and meet their managment for a job or at least drop your CV.
You can find the information regarding SubCons from
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/zumbeel/ & http://www.zumbeel.net.
You can also find many jobs at these sites for Fresh guys…
Good Luck!
Arfeen,
Are you sure that the UK base monster employes people sitting in pakistan??
There are other monsters also like e.g US, Canada, Gulf and Australia
Should I also look for them or just UK monster is the best idea?
I’m not saying it’s going to be easy … but you’ve got to keep on trying. You might be able to find a company who’s looking for the exact skill set that you have. I have had phone interviews with firms based in Pakistan and Dubai while I was living in the US.
You should try as many job sites as you can as different firms post jobs on different job boards. I recommended UK and Middle East because it’s relatively easier to get a work permit/visa in those places compared to the US.
I agree with arfeen that you should get any job even if it is low paying. As you begin to get experience, your demand will grow and so will your pay scale.
USA H1b situation is bad but still some companies like Microsoft are still actively hiring and even if you do not get H1b visa, they send you to Canada.
One advice that I can give you is to get a job anywhere and apply for a skilled UK immigration. the procedure only takes only a few months to finish and you get resident visa for UK. After 5 years you get nationality.
I have seen many people who have availed this. The negative side is that you have to have a job and earning at least 80k or more to be eligible. Few people that I know who have successfully become UK citizens, did not have that much salary. But there is nothing that cannot be achieved with some contacts in the upper management of your company to help you out with your *documented* salary.
Anyway, there other thing that you should immediately do is apply for a Canadian immigration. Although the wait time now-a-days in more than 5 years but it is worth a shot.
Best of luck!
hi
do u know of any friend who has got job in the UK or canada through monster while sitting in pakistan???
I do not wanna go through any consultant or agent…
is it possible to get jobs through these websites and apply in embassy individually for work permit instead of paying lackh of rupees to these agents?
Yes, Both bayt.com and monster works and a couple of my friends have found job from there.
