I am a student at London Met...the reputation might not be the best, but I think its up to the student what he makes out of his studies... . I am very satisfied with my studies and I learn a lot here. In my eyes London Met is recommendable.

It is very imperative to understand the difference between MA/MSc and MBA, and which degree has more value. In addition to what Sameer mentioned, one has to evaluate his/her circumstances and then decide. In Mansoor's case, as he has already gained MBA plus relevant work experience, you must go for possibile options available in Investment banking, Financial Security Analysis and like.

London Metropolitan does not come in any UK rankings (Guardian/Times Online), as they do not include themselves in those ranking. Any university can be judge in its ability to research, I would suggest try RAE for any UK ranking.

If you are willing to come bank to Pakistan, ranking does not much matters, as I have seen alot of students for low ranked universities like Sunderland, Teeside, Middlesex, who got job in a reasonable time. However, if you can afford Nottingham, you must opt for Nottingham.

You should definitely go for a reputable school. Secondly you could have applied with schools that offer MBA that is geared towards financial managers or people from finance industry. In my opinion, it is best of both worlds. I have typically heard of MSC Finance, not a MA finance. Either way, MBA finance is the way to go. You get best of both worlds.

Hi Mansoor
I've applied for MBA in London met university too! I'm not sure if London met is a good choice because as I checked it doesn't have a good ranking, would you give me some information about other university for MBA (I don't have GMAT score!)
Thanks

Mansoor,
I agree with ppl's comments in comparing MBA vth MA. However, majority of the masses consider MA degree with what's offered in Pakistan's Public universities. At no cost of what's ever, these two (MA) degrees can be compared to each other. Ranking does matter if you know the strength of education. As an investment banker, I'd suggest you to go for MA finance which is more quantitative degree than MBA (qualitative). The difference between quantitative and qualitative degree is, the first prepares you for research work(if you intend to go) and career growth in research areas where as qualitative is more sort of theories, management styles, techniques, organizational behaviors and etc. Not only that, quantitative degree equip you to prepare for CFA exam which you might think down the road if you continue in investment banking. Indeed, the scenario would be different if you would have gotten into high profile MBA schools under which the latter makes sense. Therefore, if I were you, and have to choose between MBA(from London Met) and MA(from Nottingham), it would be from Nottingham.

My Best,
Sameer

Hi Mansoor,

I believe you should go for MBA as having an MBA degree is much more *worthy* in employer eye as compared to an MA degree. You can focus on finance courses during your MBA.

Also by staying in London, you will get a chance to get much more interview calls / job opportunities as compared to any other city.

Best of luck with your career.
