HEC Declared Bankrupt

HEC has finally announced its bankruptcy and declared that they are unable to further fund any of the public universities even for the regular day to day affairs. An email has been sent to all public universities VCs pointing the reasons that federal government has denied the funding and HECs own accounts are dried up. Further to this World Bank has also denied any kind of funding for the promotion of higher education in the country. Therefore all public universities are advised to turn toward private sector and philanthropist for the provision of running expenses and salaries of teachers and staff.

This has created a wave of unrest in all the educational institutes specifically in those previously run/funded by different organization and NGOs and being transferred back to public sector for the vested interests. There are few institutes whose status are not yet clear that either they are public sector or private and presently their previous governors from private sector are not owning them anymore and on the other hand public sector has no capacity to entertain these. This has left them heading toward nowhere and leaving a question mark for the people who were involved in driving these institutes back to public sector by creating unrest and violence with in.
