Policy Manager – Unsecured Loans at Barclays
Job Purpose:
- Ensure that a clear strategy is set with the engagement of credit risk manager and that the subsequent business performance is monitored and managed in line with the strategy for Unsecured Loans through the following measures:
o Formulated strategy should help in meeting the forecasted / budgeted Impairment as well as the ENR and Revenue targets
o Active involvement in the new product development / customer campaign approvals with adherence to escalation and approval procedures for product approvals / campaigns
o Contributing to MTP submissions
o Track recruitment performance vs business case/MTP
- Ensure that the criteria for accurate assessment of each credit application is defined such that the credit risk is measured and priced appropriately by utilising all appropriate risk management tools and techniques such as credit scoring. Credit policy used to support the credit assessment process should be adequately codified and maintained. Following detailed measures would be required:
o Detailed Credit Policy Manuals should be available for all Unsecured Loans
o Training to CIU conducted at Quarterly basis or at the time of new bulletin roll outs (whichever is earlier)
o Applications and Behaviour Score cards should be in place (where merited and justified)
o Risk Reward Model should be developed and used as the basis for all policy decisioning
o Annual Review of all PPRs to validate the Risk Reward equation
- Ensure clear articulation of and adherence with policy around credit limit setting through following actions:
o B-Score development and annual validation along with limit strategy guidelines
- Ensure a clear and robust risk mitigation tools strategy is set and subsequent performance is monitored and managed to optimise the return from impaired assets.
o Detailed guidelines for reage and repayment plans alongwith training to collections and CIU staff
o Regular monitoring of all risk mitigation plans and feedback loop for criteria amendments
- Ensure that portfolio is measured, monitored and managed to, at least, achieve planned performance through the appropriate use of risk grading, stress testing and management information
o Continous risk segmentation of portfolio to identify +ve PBT segments meeting the 25% ROEC hurdle rates
o Build sub-segmental level PPRs and continuously refine the same to align recruitment strategy to overall organizational goals
o Develop and control the early performance benchmarks and correlation between early delinquencies and loss rates in Y1 & Y2 to validate the PPR assumptions and validate the effectiveness of the policy changes/test programs
o Impairment forecasts should be adhered to for MoM and Full Year numbers
o Support business in achieving the ENR and Revenue growth through directing the business towards profitable segments and pockets of opportunity
