Scholarships for Study and Research in Germany
(Open to all subject areas)

One Year Grants for Postgraduates:
This Scholarship is intended for study or research at Master’s level at any institution of higher education or Music/Art College in Germany. The scholarship is tenable from: 1 October 2009 to 31 July 2010.
Deadlines:
3 November 2008: Architecture, Design, Film, Dance and Theatre
28 November 2008: Art & Music
16 February 2009: for all other academic subjects

Summer Language Courses for Undergraduates:
This scholarship provides funding for 3-4 week language courses held at universities in Germany during the summer months. Undergraduate students in all disciplines, with a good knowledge of German, enrolled full-time at universities in the UK may apply.
Applications for this grant should be made through the German Department of your university.
Deadlines:

Research Grants for PhD Students & Junior Scholars (7-10 months):
This scholarship provides funds for doctoral or post-doctoral students to study and/or conduct research at any German university, research institute, archive or library for a total duration of seven to ten months. The scholarship is tenable between 1 October 2009 to 31 July 2010.

16 February 2009

Research Grants for PhD Students & Junior Scholars (1-6 months):
This scholarship is open to more advanced PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and lecturers at the start of their university career to carry out research at universities, research institutes, libraries and archives in Germany. Deadlines:
15 October 2008 (for visits commencing between January and June 2009)
15 April 2009 (for visits commencing between July and December 2009)

Study Visits for Senior Academics (1-3 months):
Awards are available to senior academics for visits to universities, research institutes, libraries and archives in Germany for the duration of 1-3 months. The funds are intended for academics who wish to work on specific research projects and/or visit German colleagues in order to discuss matters of mutual academic interest. There are, however, no funds available for general information visits, attendance at conferences or lecture tours.
Deadlines:
15 October 2008 (for visits commencing between January and June 2009)
15 April 2009 (for visits commencing between July and December 2009)
