I have applied for Fulbright scholarship this year for masters. I still have not received any call for interview. My academic result ans cv is good but my GRE score is not, its something like 800. Is GRE the most important thing?
What are the chance of me getting called for interview and then getting selected? Till what time of the year do they call for interviews? If i take GRE again will my scores count? Thank you.

Shortlisting for interviews for Fulbright Scholarship?
Benefits and concerns of Fulbright Pakistan
The Fulbright Program provides funds for students, scholars and professionals to undertake graduate study, advanced research, university teaching etc. It is estimated that over 1000 Pakistanis have already had the opportunity to participate in such programs. Since there are several institutions/organizations involved in the entire process, you will come across different names and acronyms in this article. The names and roles of some of them are explained below:
- Fulbright: The Fulbright Fellowships and Fulbright Scholarships, founded by the United States Senator William J. Fulbright, are educational grants funded (in part) by the United States Department of State.
- USEFP: The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan is a Fulbright Commission that supervises Fulbright-related programs in Pakistan. For Pakistani applicants, this organization is the main point of contact, who receives applications and carries out interviews etc.
- USAID: USAID is a US government organization responsible for non-military foreign aid. They provide funding for the Fulbright program, which is why you will often see scholarships labeled as “Fulbright/USAID” scholarships.
- HEC: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is a government organization that helps USEFP with funds to create scholarships labeled “Fulbright/HEC” scholarships (as opposed to purely Fulbright or Fulbright/USAID scholarships).
- IIE: IIE is a non-profit international education organization who interact with universities on behalf of Fulbright applicants. When USEFP applies to universities on your behalf, they use the services of IIE to do so.
The whole process, in a nutshell, works as follows: USEFP administers the Fulbright scholarship program in Pakistan and remain the only point of contact for Fulbright applicants. They receive funding from USAID and HEC. When applying for university admission, USEFP will forward your file to IIE who will interact with the universities on your behalf (read more on the process below).

Benefits
In a nutshell, it pays the bill and carries a lot of prestige. However, that comes at a price, especially for those in the Fulbright-HEC category. If you have alternate sources of funding, you may want to consider each of the following benefits in context of alternatives, as given below.

Working after MS with a Fulbright Scholarship
Sir/Madam,
I introduce myself as a geophysicist(oil & gas exploration) and has received this US FULBRIGHT scholarship. I work in OGDC and I am not sure IF I should go to US, leaving my job.
I was reading this profile of Mr. Jehanzeb who was a Fulbrighter and ended up working in US. I have the following queries:
1. IS it possible to work after doing masters on Fulbright. I have got the j1 visa, but I haven’t gone abroad yet?
2. After coming back to Pakistan, can I go back to any other country, please note that I am not on HEC/FULBRIGHT program, I am on simple fulbrght program (they have taken undertaking for us to return to Pakistan on 100 Rs stamp paper) but no bond was signed (i’m no sure if that is a bond)
Your assistance will be appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Salman

How should I go about to apply for Fulbright Scholarship for MBA
I am currently working at a good foreign bank for the last 7 yrs, with total work experience of about 10+ years in the banking industry. In order to further enhance my academic qualifications along with future career growth prospects, I am looking to do another MBA in Venture Capital & Entrepreneurship, a new field for the Pakistani financial market. In this regard I have coupe of queries:
1. I have heard Fulbright scholarship is preferable for MBA prgrams as these are more expensive compared to others.
2. Will it be OK if I have all three of my referrals done from work instead of a professor, since it has been a long time since I graduated and I am not sure I will be able to arrange one from a teacher.
Thanks.
How can my spouse and I apply for Fulbright Scholarship ?
Me and my husband are applying for Fulbright Scholarship , this year , to begin from 2009. My husband is an MBA from IBA and I have done my BCS from FAST.
He is applying for MBA in Entrepreneurship and my self for Masters in Teaching/Education. Our purpose is to study abroad but we don’t have an option for leaving behind our kids. I have mentioned that in my Fulbright application “Additional Information” part ,which we are to submit in a day.
My query is that how should both of us present our application that the authorities do not get offended by our different circumstances. Have there be a similar case in the past too? Thanks.
